World Cup scores - they're in your hands

It’s a knock out – the finest festival of football on the planet is hotting up so make your score predictions in our World Cup 2010 competition.

This is your chance to be a World Cup winner – the person with the most points gets the latest fab guide to South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, courtesy of our friends at Lonely Planet.

Having used a Lonely Planet guide to successfully navigate around South Africa for a month we can vouch for how indispensable it is. Lonely Planet also has a raft of other World Cup related offers right now. So to win this handy guidebook and most importantly have some footballing fun just enter your scores (including any penalties) in the predictor table below.

Three easy steps to enter:

  1. To help us administer this competition you have to be logged in – so if you’re not already a registered user of this blog use the simple-as-pie login form on the right to become one.
  2. Then make your predictions below including any penalties if you think the games will be a dead heat after full time. All the knockout stage matches are now available and the next round will come up when each match has been played.
  3. Don’t forget to SAVE your predictions by clicking the button at the bottom of the predictor table.
No matches available in this championship.

Points are awarded on the following basis:

Points for correct score                   10 For example predict 3-0 and the result is 3-0 award 10 points.

This includes the penalties in the knockout stage if applicable.

Points for guessing a draw               4 For example predict 2-2 and the result is 1-1 award 4 points.
Wrong score but predicted a win     6 For example predict 1-0 and the result is 2-0 award 6 points.

This includes the penalties in the knockout stage if applicable.

Points above are not cummulative. For example predict 2-2 and the result is 2-2, you gain 10 points, not 14 points.

Bonus points

Points for correct number of goals   1 For example predict 3-0 and the result is 3-1 award extra 1 point.
Points for correct goal difference     0 For example predict 5-3 and the result is 3-1 award extra 0 point.

Bonus points are cumulative.
