Facing the music at Benicassim

Sunnies and smiles at Benicassim

A glittering array of celebrity faces adorned the stage at this year’s Festival Internacional de Benicassim (FIB). But there were also many less famous faces around the festival ground happy to have the spotlight turned on them for just a few minutes.

Festival-goers are a truly mixed bunch who don’t meet a one-size fits all stereotype. Festivals are not just the stomping ground of the young and free, there were plenty of people there who looked like this really wasn’t their first festival and there was the odd infant too, taking their first rhythmic steps to the sound of Benicassim’s drums, under the watchful eye of a parent, proud to take their child to their first ever music event.

All manner of ages, races and social backgrounds came together in a multi-coloured, heavenly kaleidoscope. Many donned fancy dress for the occasion, while an array of cool hats covered up a multitude of bad-hair days. But given the conditions – most ‘FIBbers’ were camping and using shared shower-blocks with not a hairdryer or set of straighteners in sight – the girls looked beautifully fresh faced, and sported pretty plaits and naturally tousled hair.

Below is a selection of some of the many faces at Benicassim each of them bringing a little joie de vivre to four days of music under the Spanish sun.

There are more photos from Benicassim including acts like The Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal here.

We visited Benicassim as part of a blog trip hosted by Land of Valencia.
