Join us live from Benicassim

Gorillaz will be rocking Benicassim

Just for the record, I don’t do festivals. While the masses are happy to lap up the mud and back-to-nature camping of the likes of Glastonbury, I watch the music fest from a safe distance in the comfort of my own home. So quite what I’m doing going to Festival International de Benicassim, in Spain this week is a little beyond me.

Aside from the outdoors nature of these festivals offering nowhere to plug in a hairdryer or straighteners (I’d just about consider glamping, but it would have to be pretty good!), I’m not really into the music on offer at these sorts of festivals. I am a music lover. But all too often the festival line up is majoring on indie with just a smattering of soul, jazz, pop and dance.

So as I write this post from the seaside town of Benicassim, where Terry and I will spend a few days lapping up the music festival I am a little like a fish out of water. Oh yes, and then there’s Terry. He doesn’t ‘get’ music.

Yes, you read correctly. He likes what he likes but in the main music is a mysterious noise to him. It’s going to be an interesting few days.

So if you have any festival survival tips you can pass our way – the likes of how to use a chemical loo without embarrassing yourself – we’d be very grateful.

All this aside there will be many highlights to our time here. The festival is being headlined by some cool acts like Lily Allen, Gorillaz, The Specials and The Klaxons and are also a chance to check out some fab arts performances, films and dance. Oh and my camping issue has also been resolved – we’re staying at the four star Hotel Intur Orange – now that’s my kind of glamping!

We were invited on this blogtrip as guests of Land of Valencia tourism who are also making sure we get to take in a few local highlights. Tomorrow we’ll be visiting the mountains of el Maestrazgo, the medieval village of Morella and Peñíscola and will be taking to the water later in the week.

So we’ll have plenty of great stories to share with you. As ever you can follow our travels right here on Sarah Lee travels blog, on the facebook page, on twitter: @sarahleetravels and @terryleetravels and find out what the rest of our illustrious group of bloggers is doing on the #blogtripFIB hashtag.
