Are you planning a cruise? In need of a little inspiration? Then get to The Daily Telegraph’s Cruise Show in Birmingham this October to find out more about the latest ships and discover the hottest destinations. We know you love cruising – stories and videos on this blog on Norwegian Epic, Norwegian Jade and Celebrity Equinox have garnered a lot of comments, so we’ve teamed up with The Daily Telegraph’s Cruise Show to bring you two incredible offers.
I recently had the chance to sample Norwegian Cruise Lines’ latest ship Epic. I’ve just been reading through a fairly mixed bag of reviews of the ship – some saying it couldn’t be better, others quoting specific bad experiences and personal niggles. It’s made me wonder: how useful are travel reviews and do they say more about us than the hotel/ship/airline we’ve reviewed?
With today being American Independence Day its fitting New York’s Macy’s 4th of July fireworks are hosted by Epic, the new ship from Norwegian Cruise Lines. Entertainment is an intrinsic part of cruising and though it can amount to a few cheesy line dancing sessions it’s generally good – very good. But now Norwegian Epic is taking on-board entertainment to another level.
There was a time when cruising was the domain of the newlywed and nearly dead. But Norwegian Cruise Line seems intent on changing cruising demographics with Epic, their latest ship being christened in New York this afternoon. NCL has done something daring in cruising – introducing 128 staterooms for solo travellers with no single supplement.
I recently hopped aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Epic for a nosey round ahead of the ship’s official naming ceremony in New York. The UK launch has been followed up by a fully-booked sailing to the city where Epic will host the 34th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks event before heading to its homeport of Miami on July 7 for it’s launch.
I’ve finally made it aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines’ (NCL) latest ship Epic for the European launch and I have to say I’m way more impressed than I thought I’d be. Strangely enough Epic isn’t about size, although it is NCL’s largest ship, but about delivering great design and cool venues in grand style.
It’s an exciting week in travel. Tomorrow a new cruise ship, Norwegian Epic is being launched from Southampton, while Valencia Tourist Board is holding its first ever trip for bloggers. What’s best of all is we’re going to be attending both of these events to bring you all the latest travel news, features and a lil bit of inspiration.
There’s a fair few cruising posts on this blog this week, but with Celebrity Eclipse winding its way down the River Ems right now I couldn’t resist mentioning it here. Last year I went on the same journey (known in the cruise world as a conveyance) on Eclipse’s sister ship Celebrity Equinox.
I grant you – this is a pretty unusual post. Some might even say bonkers. But I just had to share the joy that is Norwegian Cruise Lines’ interior decor.
On a recent cruise aboard NCL Jade I couldn’t help but take photos of the many wild and exuberantly patterned carpets throughout the ship.
One of the great things about being a travel journalist is that sometimes you’re admitted to places few travellers get access to. One of these is the bridge of a cruise ship. I’m lucky enough to have been on the bridge of three ships now and it is a great experience – a chance to see what goes on while cruisers are relaxing on the sundeck.
